The movie has changed my thinking, and opened new avenues of thought. Here is what a few weeks of thought have yielded:

First, power originates in the individual. A man on a deserted island has no power except power over himself. In society, in order for one person to have power over others, the others must give the power they have over themselves to one individual, voluntarily or involuntarily, by consent, blackmail, coercion, or deceit. If they do not give it, or allow it to be taken, it remains with the individuals, and no one has power over another. All power works this way.

Second, all religions, whether they're true or not, are used as tools by the power-seekers to take power. Look at the ancient history of the Jews -- they were a people with a long history of throwing off oppression imposed by other peoples. Not very useful for today's shrewd power seekers. Judaism is nearly gone now, replaced with the Christian religion which tells people to turn the other cheek. How convenient for those in power! Man's need and quest for spirituality has been manipulated into a tool for his enslavement.

Third, those desiring power have devised a limited number of methods to coerce people to give them power. These coercions, once known, are useless. They are magician's tricks, that no longer dazzle if one has knowledge of them. Zeitgeist describes a few of them, but there are others to educate yourself about.

Finally, when we internalize the fact that power originates in the individual, and the fact that the power of the elites is simply a big illusion that depends on fooling the people, then the answer becomes clear: education. When we are no longer the fools that fall for the scams, the scammers have no power, and we become truly free.

This, I think, is the lesson of Zeitgeist -- a truly valuable lesson in these times of great deceit.

I agree with Doug that it is unfair in lumping all versions of Christianity together. Protestants have actually been warning of a coming religious one world order for over 100 years (the Bible predicts it).

I think that there are better films out there then this one showing the same facts. I almost wonder if they were trying to hypnotize their viewers at the beginning of the film. What was that flashing blue square about anyway?

WOW! I can't believe that I have just watched a movie that virtually scripts what I have thought for such a long time. I never new as a young child why I objected to going to church, I just felt it was wrong, not the way it should be. Along with my objection to churches I have always been convinced that there will always be people that crave power, sadly this will always be the way of things. I also believe that conspiracy theories are always up for debate but also the theories are very plausible. Without social control life would be in chaos and that chaos is a natural breeding ground for unscrupulous power seekers. I fully understand why communism had to be crushed. The definition of communism is to have a classless society, therefor communism would have a strangle hold on the power seekers, so it had to be eradicated. The concept of communism is to have no leaders so even communist Russia got it wrong. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a communist; it puts restraints on the wonderful innovations that have materialized and the wonderful imagination that we humans have been gifted with; but in theory it should create a more equal society if it was implemented correctly. I do find it scary that the world is being catapulted to such a hopelessly controlled existence, particullaly when all this major control has taken place over the last 60 - 70 years. We don't have any control over our existence within the social structure of the time we are born. Most people just live within that structure and there are only a very few that literally put their lives on the line for what they believe. Like most, I suspect I am one of those that don't have the wherewithal or the courage to stand out from the crowd. I do however believe that there is only one way of keeping hold of your own life and that is to be and stay true to yourself, even if we can't do much about the changes and dictations in our society today: still question it; it makes it that little bit harder for the men in power to keep a total grip on your life. Keep thinking, stay free thinking.

I will admit to being a bit offended at the begining of the movie. The movie does not take into consideration the basics of the Christian faith, but does as many do and lumps it all into one thing. I.E. "The crusades were wrong and were done in the name of making money and enslaving people." Also the Inquisition is lumped together with Christianity as well. Both of these atrocities were well outside of what Jesus taught. Jesus taught love, tolerance, forbearance, and forgivness. He did not teach greed, hatred, subtigation. Any true Christian would condemn the crusades, we have Jesus, we don't need the Holy Land. If it were gone tomorrow no Holy LAnd would not affect me as a Christian.

AS far as the rest of the movie, it is scary, but a big possibility. None of it would surprise at all. I do find it interesting that the Bible predicts much of waht the latter part of the movie shows. And yet the movie starts out questioning the Bible and labeling it as an "astrological book."

A friend here in Kazakhstan had a very similar problem. He bought an 4Gb video iPod. Cheaper than it should have been, but still not exactly dirt cheap.
He had a problem with file names corrupting, and songs skipping.
Turned out he had the worst possible rip off - Just 64Mb of memory was in the Chinese made clone! The firmware had been written to falsely report a total of 4Gb of memory, but as soon as you flashed the correct version to the player, you discovered the true amount!
