Stuff I Just Gotta Share..

«     »

As I earn a living from the internet, keeping my pc’s safe from atacks is a pretty high priority for me, and has been for many years. In fact I run a couple of websites dedicated to the subject.

For years I’ve used ZoneAlarm ( firewall software which has never let me down, but I also have another level of security that is above and beyond the normal anti virus and firewall software most people use.

It’s called Process Guard ( and it works by warning you if any program tries to make changes to your system without your permission.

whilst on the subject, my favorite anti virus system is Kapersky (

I have used Norton and McAfee, but have had problems with both as they use up so much of your system resources they slow your pc down significantly and don’t always do the job they’re supposed to.

Kaspersky is not as resource hungry and I’ve not had a single problem since I started using it.

Oh, and of course there is spyware..

I recommend getting Microsoft’s free firewall system, but personally I also use XoftSpy ( as an extra level of protection..

When you refer to Microsoft’s free firewall system, are you referring to their built-in firewall, or to their anti-spyware/malware app, Defender?

sorry, my original comment probably wasnt that clear. I use the built in firewall as well as the free spyware add in.

they both work well for me, so far..
